Truth and Evil banner

“An astounding work! G. Edward Martin takes you back to WWII in this short yet profound work. The subject is the choice of a young German soldier. A choice that leads him on a journey he will never forget. His choice, his free will, decides how his life will turn out. Does he have the courage to stand or will he blindly follow? This is an important book for today, as much as it is about the German soldier who died in Germany all those years ago. Do we listen to that voice inside and do what we should? Do we realize free will has consequences? I hope you enjoy this heart-wrenching book as much as I did.”

About This Book

During the height of World War II, a young German soldier is killed moments after committing a grave crime. When he comes face to face with God, instead of condemning the soldier to eternal damnation, God sends him back to Earth to relive his actions and seek redemption through different iterations of the soldier’s present, past, and future.

In this gripping Christian fiction novella, the unnamed soldier’s journey through a hell of his own making forces him to confront the evil within and the divine potential to overcome it. As he faces the father of all lies, he must discover the truth about humanity’s capacity for evil and where we must find the courage required to fight it.

Will the young soldier find a way to redeem his spirit, forgive himself, and influence the outcome of the way? Find out!

This thought-provoking World War II military fiction and religious historical fiction explores themes of redemption, the battle between good and evil, the sacredness of all human beings, and the whisper of the Holy Spirit within us. Told from the perspective of a soldier brainwashed by propaganda and forced to stand in opposition to his entire country, the story reflects our universal struggle with temptation, our vulnerability, the evil we are capable of, and Truth as the antidote.

Perfect for fans of dark but powerful Christian historical fiction, World War II and military fiction, this award-winning novella will challenge, inspire, and leave a lasting impression.

Reader Reviews

“Wonderful short story!”

“Spiritual revelation.”

“An astounding work!”

“This story is a very interesting read that makes you think about the world and choices in a different manner. It is quite riveting and takes you on a journey as you follow a young German soldier who has to make some choices that he is not prepared to make. The book definitely has a dark tone and is for mature readers only. That being said I would highly recommend this book.”

“I loved this novelette! The author takes a young German soldier from World War II through self-discovery as he engages in the battle of good vs. evil. There are interactions with God and the Devil, as he makes decisions. Although there are elements of religion, this novelette would appeal to most readers. I look forward to reading more by this author!”
